U.S. Army Veteran Sgt. Danny Casara has officially launched his campaign for the 52nd District against Congressman Scott Peters. Sgt. Casara was featured in President George W. Bush’s book: Portraits of Courage: A Commander In Chief’s Tribute To America’s Warriors.
“Washington needs more patriots and less politicians. Voters demand a representative who understand the needs of a strong national defense and will support the men and women who provide it. That’s why I’ve decided to run against Scott Peters in the 52nd District.”
“In order to best represent my fellow veterans, neighbors and the hard-working men and women of San Diego, I have decided to run in my home district against an establishment, business as usual, incumbent who chooses partisan politics over pragmatic solutions. Congressman Peters has an abysmal record of voting for issues such as the Iran nuclear deal that has resulted in making our nation less secure, puts our military in jeopardy and as seen in recent weeks could lead to catastrophic consequences on America soil,” Casara said.
Sgt. Casara served his country proudly for nearly 15 years in the Army. Immediately after reenlisting in 2005, Casara was deployed to South Baghdad, Iraq where he was severely injured when his M113 tank hit an anti-tank mine. Since his injury, Sgt. Casara, has continued working with over 20 non-profit organizations to raise money and awareness in over 15 states for the wounded veterans’ community. Today, Casara sits on the Board of Directors of Open Hearts for Purple Hearts foundation and numerous other veteran charities while he continues his rehabilitation.
